Susan Kushner Resnick: February 2009 Archives
Sixty-six years ago today (2/28), the women and children of the Smith Mine miners were waiting, hopefully, in the carpenter shop for any news. A blizzard had hit the previous night. All the available men were trying to get into the mine to help their brothers, but they were held back until the airways could be cleared. They would all have a long, horrible week ahead of them.
I send my sincere condolences to all the remaining family members. Even after all these years, I'm sure the pain never goes away.
